VISIT OF IVAN DUQUE MÁRQUEZ, PRESIDENT OF COLOMBIA, TO THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT

On February 15, Iván Duque Márquez, President of Colombia, paid a visit to the European Parliament in Brussels. The president made an intervention in the plenary, in which he highlighted the achievements of his administration in times of extreme difficulty between the pandemic and the destabilization sponsored by the Maduro regime.

He also wanted to make a defense of democracy in Latin America and underlined the effort that Colombia has made to welcome 1.8 million Venezuelans fleeing misery and the repression of the Nicolás Maduro regime.

He also recalled that the EU has supported Colombia with free trade agreements, cooperation, the climate agenda and the fight against terrorism, contributing to Colombia’s success story.

Duque also met with the Spanish delegation and the EPP deputies. During the meeting he wanted to highlight the close ties between Colombia and Spain and stressed that Colombia is a strategic partner for the EU.
