STUDY DAYS AND SUMMER CAMPUS OF THE PARLIAMENTARY GROUP OF THE EUROPEAN POPULAR PARTY

MEP Javier Zarzalejos has participated in the study days and summer campuses organized in Crete by the group of the European People’s Party in the European Parliament.

The conference was opened by Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic and President of the Nea Dimokratia Party, and by the president of the parliamentary group and the European People’s Party, Manfred Weber, who stressed above all the need to deal with rising prices of energy, support for Ukraine and work aimed at achieving a better future for europeans. The Vice-president of the European Commission, Margaritis Schinas, also accompanied the members of the popular parliamentary group.

During these study sessions, MEPs have had the opportunity to discuss various current issues such as the role of women as agents of change to strengthen the economy of the European Union, the fight against inflation, the increase in the cost of living and the security of jobs for europeans.

Other issues were also addressed, such as the future of Christian democracy, the situation of the extreme right-wing movements, the discussion about the need or not of a european army and, lastly, the priorities of the European People’s Party in the face of the next european elections in 2024.
