16TH CONGRESS OF THE BASQUE POPULAR PARTY
Last November 4, in Vitoria, the Basque Popular Party held an extraordinary congress that took place under the slogan ‘Looking to the future/Aurrera begira’ and whose objective was to elect a new leadership to replace the one that had been exercising since 2020, Carlos Iturgaiz.
Thus, the Basque MEP, Javier Zarzalejos, joined an event in which around four hundred members and supporters of the Basque PP gathered and elected, with a support of more than 97%, Javier De Andrés as the new president.
The former Deputy General of Alava and currently national deputy, presented a new team in which stands out the election as general secretary of the current popular spokesperson in the City Council of Bilbao, Esther Martinez.
The Congress was closed by the president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, who congratulated himself for the beginning of a “new era” in the PP of Euskadi, which is “more necessary than ever” and is the “only real political alternative in Euskadi”. “We are the management alternative to the PNV”, he emphasized.
