III GREGORIO ORDÓÑEZ SCHOOL

On January 31 and February 1, the III Gregorio Ordóñez School was held in San Sebastián, organized by Nuevas Generaciones of the Basque Country. This edition featured the collaboration of the EPP Group in the European Parliament.

Among the participants were MEPs Borja Giménez Larraz, Isabel Benjumea, and the spokesperson for the People’s Party in the European Parliament, Dolors Montserrat, who shared their perspectives on key issues for the EU, such as foreign trade, European funds, and the rule of law.

MEP Javier Zarzalejos took part in a roundtable discussion titled “Rule of Law and Immigration: The Crossroads of the European Union”. During his speech, he emphasized that these are the main challenges facing the EU, denouncing
the deterioration that Pedro Sánchez’s government is imposing on Spain regarding the rule of law and advocating for the implementation of the European migration and asylum pact. Additionally, he praised Gregorio Ordóñez, highlighting his courage and commitment.

The closing of the III Gregorio Ordóñez School featured speeches by Javier de Andrés, president of the Basque PP; Ana Iribar, widow of Gregorio Ordóñez; Cuca Gamarra, secretary general of the People’s Party; and former Spanish Prime Minister José María Aznar. They paid tribute to Ordóñez, emphasizing his bravery in the fight against terrorism and for freedom in the Basque Country.

Furthermore, De Andrés, Gamarra, and Aznar reflected on the main current issues in Spain and the Basque Country, denouncing the deterioration of the rule of law and the Basque Nationalist Party’s (PNV) complicity with Sánchez’s
government.
