JAVIER ZARZALEJOS MEETS WITH THE MINISTER OF INTERNAL AFFAIRS OF MOLDOVA, DANIELLA MISAIL-NICHITIN

On Wednesday, 10 December, Member of the European Parliament Javier Zarzalejos held a meeting with the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, Daniella Misail-Nichitin, in his capacity as Chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE). The meeting took place within the framework of political dialogue between the European Union and Moldova at a key moment in the country’s process of rapprochement with the EU.

During the meeting, progress and challenges related to Moldova’s accession process to the European Union were discussed, with particular attention to criteria linked to the rule of law and internal affairs policies. Both sides agreed on the importance of strengthening the country’s institutional capacities and continuing to align its legal and operational framework with the EU acquis in these areas.

The exchange also made it possible to deepen cooperation on internal security, including collaboration with European agencies such as Europol, as well as on the management of migration flows. In this context, Javier Zarzalejos underlined the importance of effective and structured cooperation that contributes both to the security of European citizens and to supporting Moldova on its path toward European integration.
