AMCHAM MEETING

Javier Zarzalejos MEP met with representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce in the European Union (AmCham EU) during the plenary week in Strasbourg. This meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the key role that transatlantic relations play in promoting a competitive business environment in Europe and in the area of protection of rights and freedoms.

AmCham EU represents a significant voice for US businesses operating on the continent, advocating for policies that encourage trade and investment. During the discussions, key issues related to the protection of civil rights and justice were addressed, areas in which the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) plays a crucial role.

In addition, the meeting was an opportunity for AmCham EU to present its plan on European competitiveness entitled ‘Europe’s Competitiveness: An Agenda for Action 2024-2029’. This plan follows in the footsteps of the Draghi Report, warning of the need for the European Union to regain lost competitiveness, including the promotion of a regulatory framework that respects individual rights while boosting economic growth.
