AWARD CEREMONY OF THE X FAES FREEDOM AWARD TO JUAN GUAIDÓ

On May 27, Javier Zarzalejos participated in the award ceremony of the 10th FAES Freedom Award to the president in charge of Venezuela, Juan Guaidó, who was prevented from traveling to Spain by circumstances in Venezuela to collect the award.

Guaidó has received this award for prestige the democratic cause of Venezuela and arouse international solidarity with it. The FAES Foundation also recognizes its resistance and respect for institutions.

“One more year the cause of freedom summons us. Not like freedom in abstract terms, but freedom as a commitment that manifests itself in people and institutions that have made freedom a vocation and a way of life that distinguishes them, ”said Zarzalejos during his speech.

The event, chaired by the president of the FAES Foundation, José María Aznar, was also attended by the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida and the president of the Community, Isabel Díaz Ayuso. Juan Guaidó thanked the award in connection from Caracas, after receiving congratulatory messages from Manfred Weber, president of the parliamentary group of the European People’s Party, Iván Duque, president of the Republic of Colombia, Luis Almagro, secretary general of the OAS and Guillermo Lasso , President of the Republic of Ecuador.
