THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT SPEAKS OUT AGAINST EXECUTIONS IN IRAN AND REAFFIRMS ITS SUPPORT FOR A DEMOCRATIC TRANSITION

On April 22, the European Parliament hosted the event “Take Action to Stop Executions in Iran”, opened by Member of the European Parliament Javier Zarzalejos and attended by more than 200 participants.
The event featured Maryam Rajavi, President of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), and served to denounce the increase in executions in the country and to reaffirm support for a democratic alternative.
In his remarks, Zarzalejos thanked Rajavi for her presence and emphasized that support for a democratic Iran stems from a fundamental conviction rather than changing political circumstances. He stressed that the future of the country belongs exclusively to the Iranian people and advocated for a path based on stability and peace.
The MEP strongly condemned the executions carried out by the Iranian regime and warned that the international community cannot remain indifferent in the face of these violations of human dignity. He also paid tribute to those who are fighting for freedom in Iran, many of them at the cost of their lives.
Finally, Zarzalejos expressed his support for an Iran open to the world, grounded in respect for fundamental freedoms and capable of rebuilding itself after years of theocracy, concluding with a clear message of support for a free, democratic, and peaceful Iran.
