On Thursday, April 23, Javier Zarzalejos, Member of the European Parliament, held a meeting at the European Parliament with a group of 20 lawyers from the M\u00e1laga Bar Association, who visited the institution to gain first-hand insight into its functioning and the main challenges facing the European Union.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, Zarzalejos emphasized the importance of the European Parliament as a dynamic institution with a central role in EU decision-making. He highlighted, in particular, its budgetary function in approving the Union\u2019s annual accounts and noted that, during the current legislature, the European Commission has already survived four motions of censure, demonstrating the vitality of Parliament.<\/p>\n
The MEP also provided an analysis of the current geostrategic context, marked by multiple fronts of instability directly affecting the European Union, and underlined the EU\u2019s role as a major global trading power. In this regard, he highlighted recent agreements reached with various countries, driven by the European Commission.<\/p>\n
Zarzalejos concluded his remarks by addressing the migration challenge, advocating for a model based on legal, orderly migration linked to labor market needs.
