During this week\u2019s plenary session, the Chair of the European Parliament\u2019s Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE), Javier Zarzalejos, held a working meeting with the Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for Technological Sovereignty, Security and Democracy, Henna Virkkunen.<\/p>\n
The meeting focused on the key legislative priorities that the European Commission is due to present to the LIBE Committee next week, with particular attention given to the reforms of Europol and Eurojust. Both sides agreed on the need to strengthen Europe\u2019s police and judicial cooperation tools in order to address emerging security threats and cross-border crime more effectively.<\/p>\n
The meeting also provided an opportunity to take stock of the negotiations on the proposed Regulation to prevent and combat online child sexual abuse, which is currently at an advanced stage of interinstitutional negotiations.
