MIGUEL ÁNGEL BLANCO SUMMER SCHOOL

Last weekend the Miguel Ángel Blanco Summer School was held in San Sebastián, organized by New Generations of the Popular Party and the parliamentary Group of the European People’s Party.

The Summer School meets annually with the commitment to remember and keep alive the legacy of the former councilor of the Ermua Popular Party, Miguel Ángel Blanco, kidnapped and murdered at the hands of ETA in 1997.

During the three days in which the Summer School took place, different workshops and training dynamics were organized in which 150 young people from all over Spain participated. The event was attended by MEPs Pablo Arias, Isabel Benjumea, Gabriel Mato, Leopoldo López, Tono López-Istúriz and Javier Zarzalejos, as well as several leaders of the Popular Party such as José Luis Martínez-Almeida, Cuca Gamarra or Toni Cantó.

On Sunday, July 11, in Ermua, the President of the Popular Party, Pablo Casado, was in charge of closing the school with a wreath at the monument in tribute to Miguel Ángel Blanco. Also taking part in the closing ceremony were Beatriz Fanjul, national president of New Generations; Carlos Iturgaiz, president of the Basque People’s Party, and Raquel González, president of the Vizcaya People’s Party.
