The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, opened the part-session with a strong condemnation of the attack suffered on November 10 by the former Member and Vice-President of the European Parliament, Alejo Vidal-Quadras, while expressing the Parliament’s full solidarity with him, trusting that the Spanish authorities are doing everything possible to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Likewise, several MEPs belonging to different political groups represented in the European Parliament, including Javier Zarzalejos, gathered to express their solidarity and support for Alejo Vidal-Quadras.

Zarzalejos pointed out that it was Alejo himself who pointed to the Iranian regime as responsible for his assassination attempt and, although the Spanish police have not yet reached a definitive conclusion, the shooting is being investigated by the Audiencia Nacional as a case of terrorism.
